Let me just put it out there honestly because I think this topic deserves a real and direct conversation without all the usual hedging and judgment attached to it. When an IT professional reaches the point of thinking take my comptia exam — as in please just someone get me through this — something very real and very understandable has brought them there and it almost always tells the same story of a genuinely capable tech professional who has simply been pushed past their limit by a certification process that was never designed to accommodate the realities of a working IT professional’s life.
The CompTIA certification track demands a level of focused dedicated preparation time that is genuinely incompatible with the schedule of someone who is already performing at a high level in a demanding IT role every single day. You are troubleshooting systems, managing networks, solving technical problems, and staying current with technologies that evolve faster than almost any other industry on the planet. By the time you get home the mental tank is empty and the idea of sitting down for hours of focused exam preparation feels less like studying and more like running a marathon after already running one.
